All original pastels are sold and shipped unframed.  They are mounted on acid free foam core, covered with glassine, tightly sandwiched between additional sheets of foam core and sent to you in a padded bag with instructions for your framer.  This will allow you to make framing decisions that will suit your personal style.   

The structure of the pastel stick is literally pure pigment with varying degrees of binder to give a range of textures from hard to butter soft.  The combination of the pure colors that can be layered and the accompanying crystalline properties are the factors that create the brilliant effects in a pastel painting.  There is a light and sparkle that is completely unique to the pastel medium.  It is for this reason that I do not use any kind of fixative to finish the painting.
